Food/Eating designers are few and far between, but they have a decent amount of work from which i can research on. Marije Vogelzang calls herself an eating designer The title of food designer, she insists, belongs to Nature- she merely enhances the eating experience. Her creations are nothing gastro-molecular, but they are more elemental, honest and definitely engaging.
Images below was her graduate work titled White Funeral Meal, in 2000. In this eating experience, she explored the relationship between the color white and its association with death. How the white conveys itself not only through the serene presentation, but also through the taste of the 'white' food offered. In accordance to theme of purity, she also prepared the food in the simplest way possible to allow the pure tasting palette to show through.
