Food and Singapore - Questions.

Just a personal musing as to why I am interested in creating an eating experience.

Announce to any local friend that you are coming over to Singapore and they will definitely bring up the activity of eating as an everyday must-do. In singapore, food is (unofficially) crucial to national identity, and there is the unanimous decision that it is the national pastime. Multiple blogs and various search engines for the food culture in Singapore were specially crafted to satiate our people's obsession with food.

What is/are our national dish/es?
There are a few possible dishes, but then again there are discrepancies in the origin of the dish itself. Most local dishes are also claimed by other fellow south-east asian countries as their specialty.

Also, can a dish be called local if the ingredients themselves are not grown and sourced locally?

So how much do we know about our local cuisine?
